Anupum Sud is one of India’s leading printmakers. Born in the years following independence, she studied at the Slade School of Art, London and the College of Arts in New Delhi where she taught printmaking for decades.
Through the exquisite surfaces of her prints and the luminous color and light in her paintings, the pleasures and pains of human relationships are embodied by figures who might be nude, clothed or in masquerade.
Through figures engaged in public or private dialogue, physically or psychologically present or absent, Anupam Sud weaves together autobiography, mythology, history,
current events and day-to-day life allowing abundant room for interpretation.
