On the eve of his 2011 exhibition at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad City Museum in Mumbai, Jitish Kallat discusses selected work from the past decade.
With an international exhibition profile and curator of the 2014 Kochi Biennial, Kallat is one of the leading artists of his generation. Reflecting an uncommon ingenuity with diverse artistic languages, forms and mediums, his artistic practice includes large-scale painting, sculpture, installation, and multimedia works.
Born and currently residing in Mumbai, Kallat’s expansive artistic practice imparts a transformative sense of self as personal, local and national narratives and histories are imbued with universal significance.
